Celebrating the Ball (Of the Year)

What a night!

The ball was to start at 18:30 and I was there one hour earlier, but this is how it happens when you are organizing and being a           .

The ball was not only dance and talk, we had gathered ideas for games, in which many people participated. We also had the traditional auction, where many beautiful handmade artworks were sold, again the money going for charity.

Interesting was to see the students out of the uniforms and in their most posh chlothes. We even had a special photographer so that we imprint the night.

This year we had unusually many people, all of them there, to enjoy what we had done and were doing, not only for the sole purpous of fun, but also for helping a man in need.
What is truly impressive, is the sum that was obtained and that went to the man from Svishtov, who needed help.

Organizing the Christmas Ball

It is no secret that we literally didn't sleep for two days in order to organise the Christmas ball. The whole weekend was dedicated to decorating the aula, but it was not enough, so we finished on Monday.

In order not to give food for catering, Tuesday was dedicated to making the food. We took the whole canteen, where a huge groop, me including, made a wide range of platos with small sandwiches, cheese, fruites and sweets.

After that we arranged the food on a giant table, together with the drinks and cakes. Some of them came from sponsors, as well as most of the decoration - something, for which we are truly grateful. The end result was highly satisfactory - we have never had such a perfectly-prepared ball.

Big Christmas Cooking

Another nice tradition - every class to cook something, which will be sold at the bar during the breaks and the money wil go for the charity cause of the some-days-later Christmas ball.

To add a little change, thins year every class had to cook a different type of food - from muffins to sandwiches. My class had to sell homemade bread known as "pita" (on the picture). 12IB sold drinks. Conspiracy! Just joking.

We collected a lot of money but not the most. Some classes had more, but in fact I don't think it was fair, given that some cooked everyody's favourite sewwt things and we had only bread. What is more, some younger students spent the breaks pushing food under your nose, in the hope that they will annoy you enough to buy something.

The Cello Lessons

This is my eleventh year playing the cello. It has become such an important part of my life. Even though I have less free time as an IB student, I decided to contunue the cello lessons and I don't regret my decision.

Right now I'm plaing the famous Suine No. 1 by Bach. I like it - very nice and melodic, but actually quite hard to do, especially the long legattos.

I didn't feel ready, so I'll skip the Christmas concert, but I'll play on the spring one for sure. By then I should have mastered the Suite...should have...

Christmas Decoration

To bring the Christmas atmosphere in our school we, together with the 8th graders, decorated the school. They hung hats and snowflakes in the antre and we decorated Christmas trees for the rooms.

On the picture you can see the one we did for the teacher's room. I brought it there and felt happy when I saw how much they liked it.

While doing the trees we had much fun, but the products were nice too. Poli made one - nice and shiny, for the headmaster's office. I hope he liked it... But there and anywhere else, we can feel it - Christmas is comiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!

Int. Human Rights Day Posters

In connection to the International Day of Tolerance and the International Human Rights Day our class had to do posters.

Every student created one and they were all very different but nice and informing. The project was part of the intrasubject relation, this time between Theory of Knowledge and CAS.

On the 8th of December everybody who had done a poster for the International Human Rights Day introduced it to the class and our TOK teacher - Mrs. Slavcheva, as well as to our CAS coordinator Mrs. Petarcheva.

After two days - on the 10th, we hung them in the antre of the college, where everybody could read them. I hope many students have stopped for a moment and have learned something new for their rights.

Christmas Bazaar

After painting a huge amount of pots with the decorating club, the school decided half of them to be sold in the Christmas bazaar in our town.

We sold them in the hut of the  Elderly People Home "Veneta Boteva" and all earnings went for them. Many people gave one hour from their weekend to go and sell.

It was, in fact, very nice. It was refreshing to do something different and it was nice to see how many smiling face passed by.
